Who We Are
First Church of God seeks to be a Christ-Centered church forming Christ-Centered people.
That purpose is pursued through three activities: Connecting, Growing, Serving
We are trying to order our life as a congregation around the idea that what we do on Sunday mornings, or at any other time we gather in the building at the corner of First and Saginaw, is only one small part of what it means to be a Christ-follower. This is a hard transition for those of us who were raised in a more traditional church environment. It means that the most important things we do as a church may not be what happens when we gather, but when we scatter—back into our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and everyday activities.
That's it! That what First Church is all about. Every activity or ministry we offer should fit under one or more of the three categories listed above. Ultimately, we want everything we do to support the simple purpose of helping persons to love God and others more each day.
The First Church of God of Fresno is affiliated with the
Church of God, headquartered in Anderson, Indiana.

- We gather for worship to connect with God and with each other.
- We grow in Christlikeness through a variety of spiritual formation opportunities that involve listening, learning, and loving one another.
- Then we serve the community around us and the larger world through simple acts of kindness as well as financial support of various ministry partners.
